Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t see an answer to your questions?

You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your pelvic floor physiotherapy session. It is also recommended to wear clothing that allows easy access to the pelvic area for assessment and treatment. If an internal examination is warranted and consented to, sheets and appropriate draping will be provided by your Physiotherapist.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy should not be painful. At Vangool Wellness, your verbal and physical body’s consent to treatment will be honoured by your Physiotherapist. Your physiotherapist will work with you to ensure that the treatment is comfortable and effective.

The duration of a pelvic floor physiotherapy session varies depending on the patient’s condition and treatment plan. Typically, a session lasts 60 minutes for the initial assessment and 30-60 minutes for follow-up appointments.

During a pelvic floor physiotherapy session, your physiotherapist will perform a thorough medical history (including bowel and bladder function), discuss your concerns and goals, evaluation of your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan. The treatment may involve a range of exercises and techniques, including pelvic floor muscle exercises, manual therapy, and education on proper bladder and bowel habits.

Most extended health insurance plans cover physiotherapy services, including pelvic floor physiotherapy. However, coverage varies depending on the insurance provider and the patient’s plan. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to determine your coverage.
